2° DAY
Breakfast in the chosen foodhotel. In the morning, visit to Gradara, scenery of the tragic love story between Paolo and Francesca. The fortress and the hamlet are one of the best-preserved medieval buildings of Italy and the double defensive wall make it one of the most impressive. In the Middle Age it was the scene of the fights between the two Signorias of Malatesta and Montefeltro, who were always trying to conquer fortresses and hamlets. The Malatestas gave it its modern appearance, by building the fortress and the walls between 1200 and 1300 over an earlier fortified tower of 1100. However, their domain ended in 1463 when Federico da Montefeltro conquered the hamlet with the papal army. LUNCH in an agritourism with typical menu of Romagna. In the afternoon, visit to MONDAINO, the last medieval hamlet of the Signoria Malatesta. Here we will stroll through the hold town, from the famous “pan” square, to the gorgeous Church of San Michele, to the “Porta di Sotto”, the gateway of the town. Here we will find the Mulino delle Fosse (literally pits mill), an enchanting place were art, flavors and poetry meets in the magic frame of an ancient Jesuit mill. That is the place where the famous Formaggio di Fossa (pit cheese) is produced and the venue of Center of Dantesque Studies. We will learn the techniques of the placement and the removal into the pits and there will obviously be a tasting while listening the verses of Dante Alighieri!!
At the end return to the hotel.
