In March 1302, Dante was exiled by Florence, after this event the Poet begins his travel through Romagna. This travel was an inspiration to him and thanks to it; he wrote his masterpiece….The Divine Comedy!
1°DAY Rimini (Inferno, canto XXVII and canto V)
Arrival late in the morning to Rimini, LUNCH in a hostaria with typical seafood menu of the Adriatic Sea.
In the afternoon visit to one of the few centres where centuries of history live together in peace, not only capital of seaside tourism but it is also an art town rich in monuments that are worth more than one travel.
From the gorgeous old town, surrounded by ancient medieval walls, to the Arch of Augusto, to Piazza Tre Martiri and the Tempio Malatestiano designed by Leon Battista Alberti, which preserves one of the masterpieces by Piero della Francesca), from the Tiberius Bridge to the Piazza Cavour and the famous “Pine Cone Fountain”. We end up with a stroll through the suggestive Borgo San Giuliano, the one of the fishermen’s in the movie Amarcord by Fellini, with tiny houses, all painted with frescos depicting the most famous movies of the film director.

2°DAY Mondaino and Gradara (Inferno canto V)
Breakfast in the chosen food hotel. Visit to MONDAINO, an area renowned for truffle and fossa cheese, venue of the annual fair Fossa Tartufo e Cerere (pit cheese, truffle and Ceres) hold the last 2 Sundays of November. Here we will stroll through the hold town, from the famous “pan” square, to the gorgeous Church of San Michele, to the “Porta di Sotto”, the gateway of the town. Here we will find the Mulino delle Fosse (literally pits mill), an enchanting place were art, flavors and poetry meets in the magic frame of an ancient Jesuit mill. That is the place where the famous Formaggio di Fossa (pit cheese) is produced and the venue of Center of Dantesque Studies. We will learn the techniques of the placement and the removal into the pits and there will obviously taste the Formaggio di Fossa DOP, FORMAGGIO DEI MALATESTA (fermented in the wheat), and the Truffle Cheese. LUNCH in an agritourism with local menu. In the afternoon, visit to GRADARA, a gem with an ancient medieval hamlet, the ramparts, and the impressive Rocca Malatestiana, scenery of the tragic love story between Paolo and Francesca.

3°DAY Verucchio and San Leo (Inferno canto XXVII and Purgatorio canto IV)
Visit to VERUCCHIO, called the “cradle of Malatestas”, as to remark the link that the village had with the Signoria of Malatestas, hometown of the ancestor of the dynasty. Very relevant is the majestic Rocca Malatestiana, also known as Rock Fortress, for its strategic position on a rocky spur overlooking the hamlet and the Civic Archeological Museum, where rare and fine findings of the Villanovian civilization are preserved. This folk was famous for the commercialization of amber and inside the museum you can admire grave goods, everyday tools and even a wooden throne. Aperitif tasting with bruschetta and extra virgin olive oil, acacia honey, jams, bio sauces in a small shop in the old town.
LUNCH with Malatestian menu in a restaurant in the heart of the old town, inside a cellar in underground caves.
In the afternoon visit to the impregnable hamlet of SAN LEO. The fortress is perched over a rock, overlooking the entire Marecchia Valley. Allowance to the castle, which hosts an art gallery and the weapons museum. Back to the hold town, you will admire the facade of the Palazzo Mediceo, the Duomo and the Parish Church. The hamlet hosted Dante and S. Francesco d’Assisi, who was given as present the Monte della Verna by the Earl Orlando di Chiusi del Casentino.

4°DAY Ravenna (Inferno canto V and Purgatorio canto XIV)
Today we will visit the last home of Dante, when he was a guest of the Da Polenta, and the eternal resting place …RAVENNA. Visit to the magnificent town where you can admire the most important monuments of Byzantine and Gothic period, among others the Church of S. Vitale, the Basilica of Sant’ Apollinare Nuovo, Mausoleum of Galla Placidia.with the gorgeous mosaics, the Neonian Baptistery and the Archiepiscopal Museum. In the old town, you can pay a visit to the grave of the Poet.
Free lunch, departure late in the afternoon.
