Santarcangelo di Romagna

Santarcangelo of Romagna is one of the most suggestive villages in Romagna, known for its splendour. In this hamlet the Christians found shelter from the persecutions of the X century. It has been under dominion of numerous bishops of Ravenna and Rimini, of Giovanni Sforza, of the Malatestas and of the Zampeschi until it returned under the power of the Pope known Clemente XIV (born in Santarcangelo) under the name of Ganganelli, whom the triumphal arc of Cosimo Morelli was devoted to.
Mny tourist structures welcome warmly the tourists allowing them to feel at home thanks, above all, to the inns and restaurants that crowd the historical center.
This town, even if with 20 thousand inhabitants, is part of the world and it shows that during the International Festival of Teatro in Piazza that welcomes every year thousands of viewers.
If you want to make your stay in Santarcangelo unique and unforgettable, don’t miss the most suggestive corners of the area like the Rocca Malatestiana (sec. XIV), the Torre del Campanone (sec. XIX), the Piazza delle Monache, the Museo del Bottone. –Giorgio Cavallotti and his passion for the buttons made it possible to collect samples from the whole world from 1700 until today.

Calici di stelle – in August, two evenings devoted to the tasting of the wines -.  Fiera di San Michele (Fair of the birds)- a weekend around September 29, it focuses on to the natural environment where you can take part in the unusual melodious competition for birds -. Santarcangelo in Jazz – in October, the evolution of jazz, in a row of concerts from the most classical to the freshest performances. -, Fiera di San Martino – weekend around November 11, one of the most ancient of Romagna, enriched by a luna-park and initiatives -.
